This cultural adventure includes reindeer sledding, trying lasso-throwing and storytelling about the Sami culture and history. People of all ages can participate on this soft adventure, which is perfect for families.
The reindeers await your arrival at Camp Tamok. You will be brought to our camp by bus, and will receive comfortable outdoor clothing and shoes to keep warm during your stay. A Sami guide will meet and greet you upon arrival, and bring you to the reindeers, eager to pull your sleigh.
You will be driving in pairs with one reindeer pulling each sleigh. So, all you need to do is make yourself comfortable, sit back and enjoy the magical scenery. Daytime trips give you an amazing view of the wild mountains in the area, and evening trips in the period of November – March will give you a good opportunity to experience the Northern Lights. After the sledding, you will head back to a warm and cosy lavvo (Sami tent) where there will be a bonfire to keep you warm- a perfect setting to learn more about the Sami people and their culture.
You´ll also try lasso-throwing, the method by which the Sami people still catch their reindeers when they are rounded up for marking. And of course, you will get to feed the reindeers- how awesome is that? Before heading back to Tromsø, you´ll get a lovely hot meal in our dining lavvo.
Pick-up by bus or minibus in the city centre of Tromso, outside the Scandic Ishavshotel by the harbour. Transfer time is 75-minutes to Camp Tamok: the starting and ending point of your excursion.
